The Next Best Thing In Technology- Virtual Reality
7 May 2016
Introduction
Welcome,
one and all, to our hub of learning, news and excitement. A virtual space where
we can explore our up-and-coming technological reality and how it affects
various aspects of daily life. Come and join the conversation.
Background of the Virtual Reality Survey
Virtual reality is an artificial environment that is created with software and presented to the user in such a way that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment.
This survey has been drawn up in order to investigate and analyse the general public's interest, knowledge and awareness of virtual reality as well as people's views on the current virtual reality technology that has recently been released. if the majority of people are interested in using virtual reality, what could make them interested and to what extent people feel willing and ready to operate in daily life with virtual reality, such as in transportation.
Virtual Reality Survey Results
We conducted a survey to research certain questions that we were interested on by using Surveymonkey. We sent out surveys via the survey link https://www.surveymonkey.com/
The surveys were mostly answered by teenagers and adults. The surveys were sent out by each
group member to their family, friends and colleagues. 100 people in total took part in the answering of the survey.
The Next Best Thing for Architects
VR will allow architects to explore
their designs and to accurately analyse a building project before it has even
been erected. The interactivity of a headset, such as Oculus Rift, will allow
for both clients and architects to experiment with various designs, lighting
and materials to allow for the creation of the best output for all. They will
also able to identify issues and flaws that would normally be undetectable or
overlooked using current techniques such as orthographic drawings and standard
computer modelling.
Drawbacks of Virtual Reality
The world of virtual reality is an emerging and
immersive one with countless possibilities in not only the entertainment sector
but in the fields of medicine, sport and architecture as well. However, before
we allow Virtual Reality to claim territory in our perceptual landscape, we
should consider the pitfalls that will inevitably arise from the creation of
artificial environments.
The History of VR
Virtual reality has a long and tumultuous past
filled with as many deaths as it has attempts at revival. However, the recent
surge in production and society’s fascination could finally be the industry’s
salvation. Let us take a look at history to see how VR got here.
